Transfer to 4Cs: Bring Your College Credits Here

At Cape Cod Community College (4Cs), we value your previous academic achievements and welcome your college credits. Transferring to 4Cs is made easy with our individualized credit evaluation process, ensuring your previous hard work pays off towards your degree. Here are our transfer credit guidelines:

  1. Accredited Institutions: Coursework from accredited colleges/universities or those candidates for accreditation is eligible for transfer credit.

  2. MassTransfer: Benefit from guaranteed credit transfer and other advantages when transferring within the Massachusetts public higher education system.

  3. Non-Traditional Education: Credits from non-traditional education sources are accepted if approved by the appropriate academic department's faculty.

  4. Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB): Earned credits from AP and IB examinations are considered for transfer.

  5. Grade Requirements: Generally, grades of C- (1.67 on a 4.0 scale) or better will be considered for transfer (except where indicated in specific course prerequisites).

  6. Credit Conversion: Credits earned at other institutions will be accepted in accordance with the college's established course credit equivalencies. If the transferring institution uses a different credit system, our Registrar will convert the credits accordingly.

  7. College Level Examination Program (CLEP) credits will be accepted in accordance with College policy.

Time Limit for Transfer Credits: In most cases, there's no time limit for accepting credits from regionally accredited institutions. However, for certain courses requiring current knowledge, a time limit may apply and will be indicated in the college catalog. If the time limit is exceeded, credit may still be granted under the following circumstances:

  1. The student successfully passes a CLEP test for the course or takes a departmental Challenge Examination.
  2. The student submits a waiver request and receives approval from the appropriate department.

Minimum Completion at 4Cs: To earn a degree from 4Cs, a minimum of 24 credits must be completed at Cape Cod Community College.
